14 Kinds of Toast

Let’s talk about toast.

From gluten-free, fresh sourdough, pita bread, naan… the possibilities of bread alone are seemingly endless. And we haven’t even talked about all the delicious toppings!

Over the years, toast has transformed from a breakfast side dish often forgotten about to the star of Sunday brunch. Specifically, avocado toast has had its time in the sun. Thanks to millennials, the simple recipe of toasted bread plus mashed avocado can go for $12+ at your nearest café.

But we aren’t here to bash on avocado toast. We love it as much as the next person! But it’s not all about avocado. There are infinite other toast toppings!

Most recently, creamy ricotta cheese has taken the toast world by storm. Whether it’s topped with honey, fruit, or tomatoes, you can’t go wrong with ricotta cheese. You could say that ricotta was the topping of 2021.

As we near spring and come out of the cold winter months, it’s time to ask ourselves… what will be the next big toast? Will lox make a comeback or will a newbie like the simple cottage cheese spread outshine it? Only time will tell…

In our Toast issue, we’ll explore fourteen kinds of toast recipes. That’s right, fourteen! From the classic French toast to steak baguettes and Mediterranean-style toasted pita bread, we have a recipe for everyone.

So, join us in raising a toast to this issue!
